Dr. Austin Lang is a highly skilled and trusted skin cancer expert dedicated to delivering world-class care to Queenslanders.

With a pragmatic and patient-focused approach, he prioritises minimising unnecessary biopsies and simplifying procedures to achieve the optimal outcome. His expertise includes pain minimisation strategies, invisible suture techniques, rapid wound healing, advanced reconstructive methods such as skin flaps and grafts, and scar optimisation strategies.

Before specialising in skin cancer, Austin trained extensively in orthopaedic surgery at leading Melbourne institutions, including the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre and The Alfred Hospital. He later shifted his focus to skin cancer medicine, practicing on the Mornington Peninsula and in the Alpine region of Victoria, where he provided advanced reconstructive surgery to rural communities. Having performed over 3,000 major and minor operations, Austin has developed exceptional surgical precision and finesse. His expert hands and advanced techniques consistently achieve superior outcomes, with a focus on aesthetics that is crucial in skin cancer surgery. This meticulous approach ensures not only effective treatment but also minimal scarring and optimal cosmetic results.

Austin brings a wealth of surgical experience combined with the highest level of education in skin cancer dermatology to his practice. He holds a Master’s Degree in Skin Cancer Medicine, a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, a Bachelor of Science, and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Originally from Brisbane, Austin returned home after 11 years in Victoria to join Brisbane Skin Cancer. Beyond his medical career, he is a devoted husband, and father to his young son and toy cavoodle. He has a passion for design, architecture, and sports and recently undertook much of the work on his own home renovation, reflecting his hands-on and meticulous nature.
